SUBJ: 249TH BIRTHDAY OF THE UNITED STATES ARMY
1. On behalf of the United States Coast Guard, sending heartfelt
congratulations to the United States Army on your 249th birthday!
2. For over 249 years, the United States Army has proudly defended
our nation and preserved democracy - from driving the British from
Boston during the American Revolution, to denying Germany's last
assault at the Battle of the Bulge, to liberating Kuwait during
Operation Desert Storm, to today's enduring presence in hot spots
around the world. No matter the conflict or the conditions, the
Army faithfully fulfills its service's motto, "This We'll Defend,"
as the world's premier ground combat force.
