ASSIGNMENT YEAR 2025 TIMELINE
1. Coast Guard Helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron (HITRON)
will conduct a Precision Marksman-Aviation (PM-A) candidate screening
from 16 Sep - 20 Sep 2024 for potential candidates seeking assignment
to HITRON’s PM-A locker in Assignment Year 2025 (AY25). Although
PM-A billets make up only a small percentage of enlisted aviation
assignments, these assignments provide opportunities for advanced
training, world-wide travel, and interaction with federal and
international partners.
2. Members desiring assignment as a PM-A should ensure they refer to
reference (A) for assignment criteria. Applicants must possess a
Basic Aircrew (BA) designation and be tour complete in AY25 or AY26.
3. Application Procedures:
a. Prospective PM-As must submit a command endorsed application per
reference (A).
b. Applicants are highly encouraged to ensure their Employee
Summary Sheet (ESS) is accurate. Members should work with their SPO
to correct missing or inaccurate information. Accurate aviation
competencies and training records will improve a candidate's
opportunity for selection.
c. Completion and inclusion of Basic Rifle Marksman Course (BRMC) and
Firearms Training and Evaluation-Pistol (FT&E-P) scores in the member’s
application is highly desired but not required (previous records from
other services are acceptable).
4. Command Endorsements:
a. To promote a fair and balanced competition for all applicants,
Commands must ensure their endorsement addresses all categories
listed in section 1.I.1.c of reference (A).
5. PM-A candidate applications:
a. Applications are due to CG PSC-EPM-2 Aviation Assignment Officers
NLT 23 Aug 2024. Applications will be sent via email submission to:
CWO C. miracle: charles.j.miracle@uscg.mil, CWO L. Fisher:
louis.j.fisher@uscg.mil, and AETCM M. Rogers: matthew.d.rogers@uscg.mil.
b. Applicant packages will be reviewed to evaluate each applicant's
suitability based on command endorsement, ESS, physical fitness
test results, and responses to a questionnaire. Upon completion of
this review, selected applicants will be notified via their parent
unit and receive funded orders for an onsite assessment at HITRON.
6. On Site Assessment:
a. The assessment will consist of a physical fitness test, range
evaluation, and formal interview. Upon completion of the assessment,
HITRON will recommend to CG PSC-EPM-2 those applicants best
suited for assignment. CG PSC-EPM-2 will make final assignment
decisions and notify candidates in alignment with fleet wide AY25
timelines found in reference (D).
7. eResume Guidance:
a. All members who successfully screen for PM-A and desire to fill a
PM-A position shall submit an eResume listing PM-A positions at
the top of their eResume no later than 15 Dec 2024.
b. Members are reminded that they shall contact their AO within
30 days of their name appearing above the cutoff on the SWE
advancement eligibility list and must be prepared to be reassigned
to fill any authorized position at the next higher paygrade,
in accordance with reference (a).
