1. The TA Rating is being implemented in a phased approach. This message
establishes the requirements for the first lateral solicitation and targets
members that are currently serving or have previously served as a Coast Guard
Recruiter, Recruiter-in-Charge, or Regional Supervisor. Lateral applicants
for this first phase are limited to E8s, E7s and E6s (above the cut for E7).
Other lateral opportunities will be published at a future date. Selected
applicants will be lateraled into their new permanent rate as a TA.
2. Application: To apply for the TA rating, applicants must submit a lateral
Change in Rating (CIR) request package to Coast Guard Recruiting Command (CG RC)
via email at RecruiterApplications@uscg.mil, IAW the timeline outlined below
in paragraph 6. The lateral CIR template is available at the TA Rating
SharePoint Page: Welcome to Talent Acquisition Page
3. Eligibility: Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements
to be considered for TA:
a. E8s, E7s, and E6s above the cut for E7.
b. Applicants not currently assigned to CG RC and who are not tour complete
in AY25, must receive a positive endorsement from their Commanding Officer to
short tour and lateral into the TA rating. Command endorsements shall only
address the applicant’s ability to short tour for a change in rating. Additional
endorsements are not required and will not be considered as part of the
application process.
c. Successfully obtained the Recruiter qualification.
d. Successful completion of Coast Guard Recruiter School.
e. United States Citizen (non-dual).
f. Compliance with Coast Guard weight standards.
4. References: Applicants must provide two current Coast Guard references
(name, phone number, and email address) who can attest to their recruiting
professional competence, professionalism, initiative, attention to detail,
and passion for recruiting the next generation of Coast Guard Sentinels.
5. Obligated Service and Entitlements: Members who are currently fulfilling
obligated service for training or under a contract for a bonus may not apply.
Selected members who accept a lateral to TA will incur a 2-year obligated
service commitment, to be served concurrently with existing obligated service.
6. Process/Timeline:
a. NLT 01 July 2024: CIR applications, references, and command endorsements
(if applicable) must be emailed to CG RC at RecruiterApplications@uscg.mil.
b. 22 July – 02 August 2024: CG RC reviews packages for best qualified
applicants.
c. OOA 15 September 2024: EPM-2 SA Assignment Officer (AO) will notify
candidates of results. Shopping list and eResume instructions will be
provided SEPCOR as necessary.
8. This solicitation is not open to Reserve members at this time.
