AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP AND MENTORSHIP WITHIN THE C5I
COMMUNITY
A. Recognition Programs, COMDTINST 1650.26A
1. Pursuant to REF (A), Chapter 11.B.1, nominations are being
accepted for the 2023 Commander John P. Dailey Award. One active
duty and one civilian employee will be selected. Created in 2011,
this recognition program was initiated in honor of CDR John
P. Dailey who passed away on active duty in 2009. CDR Dailey was
an outstanding officer and leader, superb engineer and charismatic
mentor. While battling cancer, he displayed exceptional courage in
the face of adversity by faithfully executing his duties with a
commitment to provide mentorship and advocacy for the C4IT
community.
2. Eligibility criteria and nomination procedures are outlined
below:
    a. All active duty and civilian employees currently serving
in C5I billets or those who have demonstrated substantial impact
on the C5I workforce are eligible.
    b. The award period of performance is January 1 through
December 31, 2023.
    c. Nomination packages shall be submitted in memorandum format
through the chain of command to COMDT (CG-6). The memorandum is
limited to two pages.
    d. Nominees must have displayed exceptional leadership, honored
our core values and have demonstrated noteworthy examples of
mentorship of junior personnel in meeting mission execution.
3. The deadline for submitting nominations for the CDR John P.
Dailey Award is 31 May 2024. Nominations should be submitted to:
CG6EXECSEC@uscg.mil
4. Winners will be announced via message traffic and awards will
be presented at a ceremony at Coast Guard Headquarters where the
winners will be recognized by the Assistant Commandant for Command,
Control, Communications, Computers and Information Technology.
5. Travel expenses for each award recipient and one guest will be
funded by COMDT (CG-6).
