1. Hurricane season begins 01 June and continues through 30
November. In preparation, it is vital that all Coast Guard members,
civilians, and their families become familiar with the tools and
resources available to them.
2. Military Personnel can visit the Office of Military Personnel
Policy (CG-1M12) website for helpful information on evacuation
allowances and frequently asked questions. This information will
help you and your family be better prepared. Visit the site at:

guide to find important information on evacuation allowances.

4. Commands are encouraged to contact COMDT (CG-1M12) at:

or event which may require evacuation, to obtain correct travel
entitlement guidance Commands may also contact PPC Travel for
guidance on drafting evacuation messages and preparing travel claims
after the natural disaster is over.

hurricane resource information listed above readily available, 24/7.
7. Review your insurance policy to ensure that you have adequate
coverage for your home before a potential loss is incurred. If you
rent a house or apartment and do not already have renter's
insurance, you should consider purchasing a renters insurance
policy. Also, keep in mind that homeowner and renter's insurance do
not cover flood damage; flood insurance must be purchased separately
and most flood insurance policies require a 30-day waiting period
before the coverage is effective.
8. The safety and protection of Coast Guard members, civilians and
their families are of paramount concern and you are strongly
encouraged to prepare early for a safe hurricane season.
