SUBJ: 2024 FEDERALLY EMPLOYED WOMEN (FEW) MILITARY MERITORIOUS
SERVICE AWARD
1. Nominations are open for the 2024 Federally Employed Women (FEW)
Military Meritorious Service Award. The award recognizes outstanding
military service members who have distinguished themselves with
significant contributions to their service and the Nation.
2. All Coast Guard service members are eligible for consideration.
Anyone within the Service can nominate an individual who is
deserving of the award by submitting a nomination package as
outlined in Paragraph 4. The performance period for the award is
from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023.
3. All nominations will be evaluated according to the following
criteria. The nominee:
a. Promoted a positive understanding of the Armed Forces among
and between men and women, minority, and non-minority members of the
military and civilian population.
b. Fostered an innovative and constructive environment between
the military and civilian community and men and women of all races
and ethnic backgrounds that benefitted employees and/or community
residents.
c. Displayed exceptional character that distinguished the
individual as an outstanding leader and role model.
d. Supported and worked towards the advancement of women within
the Armed Forces.
4. Nominations must be forwarded as email attachments to the Point
of Contact (POC) in Paragraph 6, no later than May 1, 2024.
Nomination packages must include the following:
a. Command cover memo, with signature, forwarding the package.
b. Award Nomination Transmittal Form available from the POC
listed in Paragraph 6.
c. Narrative describing the nominee's accomplishments, not to
exceed 1,000 words. Accomplishments should consist of one or more
of the following. The nominee:
(1) Promoted the tenets of civil/human rights, equal
opportunity, human relations, and/or public service.
(2) Contributed to equal opportunity for the selection,
promotion or retention of women and minorities in senior grade
level positions and under-represented occupations.
(3) Assisted in overcoming discrimination and eliminating
barriers that hinder equal opportunity for all members of the
Armed Forces and civilian employees, including women and minorities
in the Armed Forces.
(4) Created job or training opportunities that support and
contribute to advancement of all Service members including women and
minorities in the Armed Forces or civilian workforce.
d. Biography of the nominee, not to exceed 500 words.
e. Citation summarizing the nominee's accomplishments, not to
exceed 200 words.
f. Resume
g. The narrative, biography, citation, and resume must be single-
spaced, 12-point Arial font, and with one inch left and right
margins. Please do not include other Personally Identifiable
Information (PII).
5. COMDT (CG-00H) will send all nominations to FEW which will make
its final selection and notify individuals and nominating officials
of the results. An ALCOAST will subsequently announce the winners
who will be recognized during the 55th FEW National Training Awards
Ceremony on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, in Chicago, Illinois.
