SUBJ: SOLICITATION FOR THE ANNUAL U.S. FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE
PRESIDENTIAL MIGRATORY BIRD FEDERAL STEWARDSHIP AWARD
1. This ALCOAST solicits nominations for the 2024 Annual
Presidential Migratory Bird Federal Stewardship Award administered
by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). The award recognizes a
project or action conducted by, or in partnership with, a Federal
agency that contributes to migratory bird conservation and
demonstrates the agency's commitment to the conservation of
migratory birds. This could include developing and implementing
best-management practices, a policy action, or research.
2. Eligible projects include any project or action that has been
initiated by, or in partnership with, a Coast Guard unit or program
that has demonstrated impacts to migratory birds within and/or
outside the United States. Projects must have been initiated on or
after 2001 and actively worked on within the last 5 years.
3. COMDT (CG-47) will accept nominations for eligible projects using
the form located on the Teams site linked below. Award nominations
must be submitted electronically via email to the POC listed in
paragraph #6 no later than 19 April 2024.
4. COMDT (CG-47) will review submitted nominations and select a
single Coast Guard nominee for submission to FWS. COMDT (CG-47) will
submit the selected nominee to FWS no later than 1 May 2024. FWS
will select the winning federal agency for the 2024 award.
