B. 2023 Coast Guard Health Care Award Nomination Process Guide
1. This ALCOAST solicits applications for the Michael J. Cristy
Health Care Facility of the Year (HCFOY), the Clinic Health
Services Technician of the Year (HSOY), and the Independent
Duty Health Services Technician of the Year (IDHSOY) awards
for 2023, IAW REFs (A) and (B). The Michael J. Cristy
Health Care Facility of the Year (HCFOY) award will be separated
into three (3) categories: large, medium and small clinics. The
list of all USCG clinics and their categories are listed on page 5
of REF (B).
2. Nominations for all Health Care awards must be submitted
electronically, following the guidelines of REF (B), which can
be found on the COMDT (CG-1K2) website at:

3. Selectees for the HSOY and IDHSOY will be automatically
nominated for the Lewis Seaman Award for Outstanding Operational
Support. This is an annual award for enlisted personnel presented
by the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States
(AMSUS).
4. IAW REF (B), nominations must be received by the Health, Safety,
Work-Life Service Center (HSWL SC) no later than April 15th.
HSWL SC staff shall submit their top recommendations to COMDT
(CG-1K21) no later than the first Monday in May, which is May 6th.
