1. This message solicits candidates and outlines the application
process to those enlisted members interested in Special Agent duty
during AY25.
2. Special Agent duty is extremely challenging and rewarding.
The missions of the Coast Guard Investigative Service (CGIS) include
criminal investigation, both internal (e.g. theft of GOVT property,
fraud, and violations of UCMJ) and external (e.g. alien/drug smuggling,
and crimes against CG members), as well as intelligence gathering,
protective service operations, and liaison with other federal law
enforcement agencies.
3. Eligibility:
a. Tour completion: AY25, AY26, or AY27. Members effected by the Force
Alignment Initiative may request a tour completion waiver in their
Command Endorsement.
b. Rank: E-5 above the cut for E-6, E-6, or E-7 not above the cut for E-8
at time of application. (Not Waiverable)
c. Meet the prerequisite in reference (a) Para. 1.E.2.a and 1.E.9.b.
4. Process/timeline:
a. NLT 27 APR 2024: Standard applications are emailed to EPM-2 at
HQS-SMB-PSC-EPM-2-SpecialAssignments@uscg.mil and 'My Panel Submissions'
for CGIS are submitted in Direct Access.
b. OOA 03 JUN 2024: Special Agent Screening Panel convenes.
c. OOA 29 JUL 2024: ALCGENL released announcing panel results.
d. OOA 30 SEP 2024: Email from Special Assignments AO to final selectees.
5. Standard Applications: Members and Commands should pay close
attention to the requirements listed in the Standard Application and
Program Information Sheet found at reference (B). Incomplete or
improperly formatted applications will be returned. Deadline
extensions will not be granted to correct errors.
