1. All members are highly encouraged to pursue at least one Special
Assignment during their career. These career broadening assignments
provide members valuable opportunities to represent their Ratings,
network, and gain exposure to other operational and mission support
activities, making them ideal candidates for future assignments to
highly visible leadership and management positions (e.g. Silver Badge,
OIC, School Chief, CG-821 Program Reviewer).
2. This message solicits candidates and outlines the application
process for members interested in a special duty assignment as the
Enlisted Aide to the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard
(MCPOCG), COMDT (CG-00B) in AY24.
3. The Enlisted Aide to the MCPOCG provides executive level management
and requires close interaction with top department leadership within
Headquarters to achieve mission goals and outcomes. The Enlisted Aide
helps manage meetings, schedules, long-range strategic planning,
office operations, plans and tracks travel, and increases workforce
productivity through process improvement.
4. Eligibility:
a. Tour complete in AY24 or AY25, not in receipt of AY24 orders.
b. All active duty members E5 or above the cut for E5 at time of application.
c. Meets the requirements listed in reference (A), CH 1.E.2.
d. Must have a current Government Travel Charge Card in good standing
or be qualified to receive a Government Travel Charge Card.
5. Process/timeline:
a. NLT 15 MAR 2024: Standard applications are emailed to EPM-2 at
HQS-SMB-PSC-EPM-2-SpecialAssignments@uscg.mil.
b. OOA 19 - 22 MAR 2024: MCPOCG’s office interviews applicants.
c. OOA 26 MAR 2024: Applicant selection results released via email.
d. The expected report date is 01 JUL 2024.
6. Standard Applications: Members and Commands should pay close
attention to the requirements listed in the standard application
found at reference (B). Incomplete or improperly formatted applications
will be returned. Deadline extensions will not be granted to correct errors.
7. The Special Assignments Officer will coordinate the release from
rating process. Applicants should not contact their detailer asking
if they can be released from rating.
