1. PSC-epm-2 is soliciting members from the EM rating for a
three year tour with the Costa Rica Coast Guard (CRCG) Academy to
help their staff develop specialized basic and advanced courses for
the engineering school and boarding teams. This assignment builds on an
initiative launched in FY18 to assist the CRCG with the maintenance
and sustainment of 110' platforms. Ideal candidates for this assignment
will possess experience as an instructor or curriculum developer, have a
strong rating specialty background, and speak Spanish.
2. EMCS/EMC: Maintenance Curriculum Advisor for CRCG. Courses developed
will be focused on helping the CRCG establish an Electrician Mate "A"
school to provide training for shipboard and shore-based personnel in
the theory and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems, as well
as how to use and maintain equipment and make repairs. These capabilities
are critical to support the operational readiness of CRCG's small boat
fleet, 110' cutters and Metal Shark boats.
3. To be considered for selection, interested members must obtain a
command endorsement that addresses member's eligibility as follows:
a. Open to all AYs.
b. Must be an E6 (above the cut for E7), E7 or E8.
c. Suitable for overseas assignment IAW Ref A, 1.H.3.n, and Ref D.
d. A U.S. Citizen.
e. Possess a Secret Clearance.
f. Spanish Interpreter (Certified via DLPTV) IAW Ref E 9.b.3.
g. Meet OBLISERV OCONUS requirements IAW Ref A 1.B.6.c.
h. Meet Coast Guard weight standards.
i. Command endorsement for instructor/advisor
position IAW Ref A, CH 1.E.6.
j. Meet the demands of an embedded assignment with a foreign military
and represent the USCG with distinction. Essential qualities:
adaptability, professionalism, initiative, and maturity.
4. The member selected for this position can expect to report
OOA 1 JUL 2024.
Members selected for this assignment will be required to obligate three
years of service. There are no gender restrictions and this can be an
accompanied or unaccompanied assignment. Following the successful
completion of this tour, members will receive Assignment Priority 2.

and state they meet all criteria listed in paragraph 3. Submissions
