USCGC STORIS REUNION

INN ON LAKE SUPERIOR AND CONFERENCE CENTER

DULUTH, MN   2 – 4 JUNE 2024

STORIS

UPDATE TO NOTICE IN THE LONG BLUE LINE, WINTER 2024

The USCGC STORIS reunion has opened attendance invitations to other Kodiak-based cutters. As those units shared moorings over the years in a tight-knit Coast Guard community, there are a lot of common experiences of the island and working in that AOR. This includes CITRUS from 1964-79, IRONWOOD from 1979-2000, FIREBUSH from 1979-2003, and then going back further with older Vets who served in CLOVER from 1948-58, SEDGE 1950-57 and BITTERSWEET from 1947-64. Then, of course, would be the other WMECs CONFIDENCE (1966-83) and YOCONA (1983-1996).

Please contact as soon as possibleJon A. Ottman, Clay Township, MI, for additional details and to get registration packet through his reunion email address at: w38reunion@gmail.com

As a general overview, the event will be headquartered at the Inn on Lake Superior and Conference Center in Duluth's historic Canal Park, right on Lake Superior.

•    Registration fees for the event are $125 p/p for adults, $60 p/p for children. This includes food for the Sunday night "Icebreaker" Meet and Greet and the Tuesday night banquet. Cash bars will be available.

•    General room rates are $159-176 per night, plus local tax and charges.

•    We plan a two-hour narrated brunch cruise on the MV VISTA STAR for the morning of 3 JUN. Our journey will take us to see the sights around Duluth/Superior Harbor and Lake Superior.

•    Costs for the cruise are $70 p/p for adults, $40 p/p for children, including hot breakfast and coffee.

•    Several other activities are planned, including visits to the retired USCGC SUNDEW (WLB-404) and other attractions in Duluth, Superior (WI) and the Minnesota North Shore. We also hope to visit STA Duluth and CGC SPAR, if their schedules permit.

•    We plan on having the Foundation for Coast Guard History in attendance to conduct oral history interviews with reunion attendees.

Most important are the opportunities to have social interactions with shipmates, renew old friendships and make new acquaintances. Our meeting space will give us the opportunity to share sea stories, view films, slides and photos, and celebrate the history of STORIS and the U.S. Coast Guard.
