1. This message announces the fourth annual Coast Guard Marathon,
Half Marathon, 5K and Kids 1K Fun Run, being held 5-7 April 2024 in
Elizabeth City, NC. An event that is now owned and operated by the
United States Coast Guard. As in the past two years, race options
include both virtual and in-person options for the full marathon,
half marathon, 5K, and new this year includes specific in-person
options for the Semper Paratus Challenges and the Kids 1K Fun Run.
2. The 2024 Coast Guard Marathon will honor CG members lost in the
line of duty as well as our Gold Star families. These races will
include CG flyovers, pacers to help members meet their running
goals, and numerous static displays and a Finish Line Party.
3. This year's race finisher medals and race shirts feature the
Sentinel-class 154' Fast Response Cutter, specifically the Coast
Guard Cutter NATHAN BRUCKENTHAL. Attendees can also anticipate
performances from the Coast Guard Band, Coast Guard Honor Guard and
Silent Drill Team.
4. Official satellite 5K races will occur at Base Alameda, Base
Boston, Base Charleston, Base Detachment North Bend, Base Honolulu,
Base Kodiak, Base Los Angeles/Long Beach, Sector Detroit, Sector
Guam, Training Center Petaluma and Patrol Forces Southwest Asia.
5. The Coast Guard Marathon event has great potential for CG
recruiting, public affairs, external affairs, diversity and
inclusion efforts as well as supporting physical health choices
and encouraging good behavioral health. A printable poster of

6. CG Marathon Young Adult Challenge: CG Recruiting is sponsoring
100% of the 5K, Half or Full Marathon race entry fees for anyone,
not already obligated to military service, between the ages of

7. In accordance with REF (B), administrative absence may be
authorized for military members subject to Commanding Officer
approval.
8. As with other athletic events, the Community Service Command's
MWR Sports Grant Program may be available to cover registration
costs. Please review ALCGPSC 012/24 for details.
9. Limited barracks berthing, MWR lodging, RV sites, and dry camping
may be available at Base Elizabeth City on a first come, first
served basis. The Base Elizabeth City point of contact for barracks
