1. The 35th Annual Women in Aviation International (WAI) Conference
will be held 21-23 March 2024, at the Orlando World Center Marriott
in Orlando, FL. The conference is hosted by Women in Aviation
International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the
encouragement and advancement of women in all aviation career fields
and interests.
2. The purpose of this annual conference is to provide education,
career development, networking, and mentoring opportunities to
foster increased diversity and inclusion in the Coast Guard aviation
community. Attendance is open to all active-duty members serving in
or seeking a career in aviation. Priority will be given to first
time attendees; all others will be considered based on career path,
experience, and potential benefit of attendance to the member and
their unit.
3. Continuing to build on the success of previous virtual
conferences, there will be two separate parts to the Coast Guard's
conference this year. The first event will be in conjunction with
the in-person WAI Conference. For those attending the in-person
conference, the program on 21 March 2024 will focus on personal
development and leadership. The second event will be on 27 March
2024 where the Office of Aviation Forces COMDT (CG-711) will host a
virtual professional development program.
4. Those interested in attending the 27 March 2023 CG virtual
programing should email COMDT (CG-711) via the POC in paragraph 9,
Subject: CG PROGRAM ATTENDEE, no later than 15 March 2024 to be
added to the CG Teams meeting. These sessions may be streamed
publicly at the unit. An agenda with topics and speakers will be
released in February.
5. IAW REFs (A) and (B), the Office of Aviation Forces, COMDT
(CG-711) is responsible to report all conference attendance and
costs. This conference has been approved IAW Section VI of REF (A).
Commanding officers/OICs may select candidates for attendance, but
units may not issue TDY orders for personnel to attend without COMDT
(CG-711) approval to ensure travel costs remain within DHS
guidelines. COMDT (CG-711) will for pay the registration fees for
attendees, but units will fund all travel costs and issue all travel
orders for their members. Commands may issue no-cost permissive
orders IAW Chapter 2.A.10 of REF (C). Members attending on
permissive orders must notify COMDT (CG-711) via email to the POC
in paragraph 9 for accountability.
6. Commands should submit candidates to COMDT (CG-711) NLT 09
February 2023. Members will be notified by COMDT (CG-711) via email
that their attendance is approved. Attendees should follow guidance
provided by the COMDT (CG-711) POC for the venue, and book travel
and lodging by 13 February 2024.
7. Conference attendance information:
    a. COMDT (CG-711) will be sponsoring all registration fees and
registering attendees with WAI. Members that are sponsored
by COMDT (CG-711) shall not register for the conference
individually.
    b. Logistics for the conference and booking hotel reservations
will be sent SEPCOR to all approved attendees.
    c. Uniform for the conference is flight suits for aviators or
Tropical Blue for non-aviators. Attire for the banquet is Service
Dress Blue "Alpha" (SDB-A).
8. A Post Conference Report is required within 30 days after the
event IAW REF (A). To comply, all travelers must submit a copy of
their settlement to COMDT (CG-711) via email no later than
15 April 2024.
