SUBJ: 2024 LATINA STYLE DISTINGUISHED MILITARY SERVICE AWARDS
1. Nominations are open for the 2024 LATINA Style Distinguished
Military Service Awards. This honor recognizes and celebrates the
accomplishments of women who have enhanced the role of Latinas in
their community, branch of military, and military branch’s academy.
2. The LATINA Style Distinguished Military Service Award is open to
Coast Guard service members (Active Duty or Reserve), civilian
employees, and Coast Guard Academy cadets. Anyone within the Service
can nominate an individual who is deserving of the award by
submitting a package as outlined in Paragraphs 6 and 7. The award’s
period of performance includes all accomplishments since June 2023.
3. Service members (Active Duty or Reserve) will be evaluated
according to the following criteria:
    a. Distinguish themselves as leaders, mentors, and advocates of
diversity and the full integration of Hispanic women/Latinas in
the Armed Forces.
    b. Embody the qualities that are at the core of the Coast Guard's
missions.
    c. Are respected by superiors and peers as military and community
leaders.
    d. Represent the Hispanic / Latino community with dignity
and pride.
4. Civilian employees will be evaluated according to the following
criteria:
    a. Embody the qualities that are at the core of the Coast Guard’s
missions.
    b. Contribute to creating opportunities and careers that support
and advance Hispanics / Latin Americans.
    c. Display exceptional character and represent the
Hispanic/Latino community with dignity and pride.
5. Cadets will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
    a. Distinguish themselves in leadership and academics, advocating
for diversity and the full integration of Hispanic women/Latinas.
    b. Embody the qualities that are at the core of the Coast Guard's
missions.
    c. Are respected by superiors, peers, and community leaders.
    d. Represent the Hispanic / Latino community with dignity
and pride.
6. Nomination packages must include the following:
    a. Command cover memo, with signature, which can be provided in a
scanned or PDF format.
    b. Award Nomination Transmittal form. For a copy of this form,
please contact the Point of Contact (POC) in Paragraph 9.
    c. A narrative describing the accomplishments warranting
recognition, not to exceed two pages.
    d. A citation highlighting the nominee's accomplishments, not to
exceed 18 lines.
    e. A biography of the nominee (a resume is not acceptable) not to
exceed one page.
    f. A head and shoulder color photograph in high-resolution .jpg
format. Unless the nominee is a civilian, the nominee should be in
service uniform.
    g. Items c. through e. must be in MS Word format, 12-point font,
single-spaced with one-inch margins. Items c. through e. may not be
scanned or submitted in PDF format. Please do not include Personally
Identifiable Information (PII).
7. Nominations must be forwarded as email attachments to the POC in
Paragraph 9 no later than May 24, 2024. COMDT (CG-00H) will review
the submissions and forward the nominations to LATINA Style which
will make the final selections. Winners, who will be announced via
an ALCOAST, will be recognized during the 21st Annual National
LATINA Symposium Distinguished Military Service Award Program
scheduled for September 2024 in Washington, DC.
