SUBJ: CREATION OF NEW TALENT ACQUISITION SPECIALIST (TA) RATING
A. Enlistments, Evaluations, and Advancements, COMDTINST M1000.2C
1. Inspired by the Commandant's commitment to excellence and
innovation, we are announcing a groundbreaking development
in the Coast Guard's efforts to continue to improve the recruitment
strategy: the creation of the Talent Acquisition Specialist (TA)
rating. This initiative is a direct response to the unique
challenges in recruiting, marking a pivotal moment in the Talent
Management Transformation Track line. The TA rating symbolizes a
new era in recruiting, transforming it into a dedicated and
specialized field. It embodies our commitment to honor, respect,
and devotion to duty, ensuring that we attract the best talent to
safeguard our nation's interests.
2. The creation of the TA rating is not just a change, but a
revolution in the way we recognize and advance the skills of our
dedicated recruiters. This rating will enable our talented
professionals to pursue career advancement, honing their expertise
in talent identification and nurturing. By serving in key roles
within the Coast Guard Recruiting Command and other critical areas,
they will be pivotal in shaping a future-ready Coast Guard, driven
by respect, readiness, and a commitment to excellence.
3. This transformative journey will begin with a strategic, phased
implementation of the TA rating. In response to the urgent need for
innovation, Phase 1 will see the conversion of approximately 80 out
of approximately 384 special assignment billets to TA billets. This
initial phase will focus on enhancing the roles of Recruiters in
Charge, Regional Supervisors, and other leadership positions,
aligning with our goals of readiness and adaptability in the talent
acquisition field. Phase 2 will convert about half of the special
assignment recruiter billets into TA billets. This will provide a
mix of rated TAs and E5s and E6s serving in special assignment
recruiting billets outside of their permanent rate.
4. As we continue to implement the TA rating, further details
including timelines and application criteria will be communicated
through upcoming messages. We encourage our members to stay
informed and engaged through the Coast Guard Recruiting Command
SharePoint page, where FAQs will be regularly updated.
