SUBJ: DECK PLATE DEVELOPERS - POWER PLATFORM/SHAREPOINT SCIENCE FAIR
A. Coast Guard Innovation Program, COMDTINST 5224.13
1. This ALCOAST solicits participants to submit their
small-scale applications, or µApps ("micro-apps"), developed
with Microsoft Power Platform and SharePoint on
Deck Plate Developers - Power Platform/SharePoint
Science Fair challenge.
2. The Deck Plate Development initiative within the Coast Guard aims
to empower the end user community to develop µApps using existing
Low Code Application Platforms (LCAP) and other readily available
technologies. These µApps can often increase the productivity of
individuals, teams, commands, and even higher-level organization
to better carry out their duties and achieve mission success all
without lengthy software development timelines and expensive
contracts.
3. Deck Plate Developers - Power Platform/SharePoint Science Fair
challenge seeks already developed products. Submissions shall
describe the innovative solution related to µApps and captures how
they positively impact the Service. The challenge will feature two
categories for submissions: projects organically developed within
the USCG workforce, and projects commercially supported and
developed to USCG requirements. Submissions may include a link to
the product, screenshots, or a video describing the solution.
Projects should be submitted via the CG_Ideas@Work platform. The
closing date of this challenge is 15 February 2024 (subject to
extension).
4. Projects will be judged by a panel of experts by impact on and
benefit to the USCG workforce and operations.
5. Best solution entry/winners will be selected by the Coast Guard's
panel of experts and will be formally recognized.
