1. The 36th Annual Joint Women's Leadership Symposium (JWLS)
will be held June 26 - June 28, 2024 at Hyatt Regency Crystal City
in Arlington, VA. The annual symposium is the nation's largest
gathering of women in uniform. This year's theme is "Strength
Through Service".
Updates regarding the symposium are available on the following
website at:

2. JWLS benefits the Coast Guard by inspiring attendees to
accelerate change and professionally advance themselves, their units
and the organization by providing networking and partnering
opportunities to women leaders. Keynote speakers and distinguished
panelists consist of inspiring thought-leaders and experts who
share their experiences and insights, creating an immersive,
supportive, and engaging opportunity for attendees to meet women
counterparts in various services and roles. Participants will have
tremendous opportunities for mentorship, connecting with veteran and
active-duty military service women at every level of leadership and
from all military branches. All employees (Active Duty, Reserves,
Civilians, and Auxiliary) of all ranks, genders, and backgrounds
are encouraged to attend.
3. COMDT (CG-DCMS-DPR-4) will manage the symposium attendance
process and account for attendance and overall cost. COMDT
(CG-DCMS-DPR-4) must provide a final count of all USCG participants
to DHS. All members interested in attending are required to fill
out the following SharePoint form on the COMDT (CG-DCMS-DPR-4)
website NLT 19 January, 2024. Link to the form can be found under

4. Do not register for JWLS until you have been approved by the
CG JWLS Team to attend. A registration code will be provided at
a later date.
5. Civilian employees' attendance, including travel time, is
considered work time. For civilian employees, supervisory approval
to attend during work time (including a reasonable amount of travel
time) must be indicated by email and reflected in the remarks
section of the employee's timecard. The remarks must state the
employee is approved work and travel time to attend the symposium
during the employee's scheduled tour of duty between 26 - 28 June
2024. Travel dates for JWLS will be June 25 and June 29. The
employee's attendance at events outside of the employee's scheduled
tour of duty is not required and is at the employee's discretion;
therefore, overtime and compensatory time for work cannot be
approved.
6. Interested active-duty CG members are reminded that the event
will be held at the end of June and will coincide with the summer
PCS season. Members who are transferring in Summer 2024 are asked
to consider this prior to registration and ensure they register
through the appropriate channels considering which unit will be
funding attendance for the event.
7. Members local to Arlington, VA who are interested in assisting
with the event as a volunteer are asked to contact LT Jillian Zinn
via email: Jillian.H.Zinn@uscg.mil, for more information. Volunteers
may be requested to assist with logistics such as supporting onsite
event check-ins and ceremonial detail as needed.
8. Uniform for the symposium attendance is Tropical Blue and
business casual for civilians.
