SUBJ: REMOVAL OF NORMAL COLOR VISION REQUIREMENT FOR THE
INTELLIGENCE SPECIALIST (IS) RATING
A. Enlistments, Evaluations, and Advancements, COMDTINST M1000.2C
1. In alignment with Ready Workforce 2030 and the Commandant's
direction to remove barriers for recruitment, retention, and career
progression, the normal color vision requirement for the
Intelligence Specialist (IS) rating is removed.
2. Paragraph 3.A.12.a. of REF (A), "Ratings Requiring Normal Color
Perception" is updated to remove IS from the Normal Color Perception
Table.
3. All ratings not specifically identified above remain unchanged.
4. Questions or changes may be directed to Office of Military
Personnel Policy, COMDT (CG-1M1) at: HQS-PolicyandStandards@uscg.mil
5. These changes will be made to the next revision of REF (A),
which will be released within the next year.
6. This message will be cancelled on 16 OCT 2024.
