SUBJ: SELECTION OF THE DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF ACQUISITION PROGRAMS
1. I am pleased to announce the selection of Ms. Amber Stein as
the Deputy Director of Acquisition Programs.
2. This position is responsible for the oversight of the U.S.
Coast Guard's acquisition programs and projects for the
modernization and recapitalization of surface, air, command and
control, and logistics assets in support of multiple maritime
missions. Ms. Stein will provide oversight to approximately
496 military and civilian personnel while managing project risk,
introducing change, and leading all acquisitions to support the
mission, vision, and performance goals of Department of Homeland
Security and U.S. Coast Guard. In this capacity, Ms. Stein will
manage the horizontal interfaces within COMDT (CG-93), coordinate
the activities of key business processes and programs, and ensure
appropriate integration and communication among the COMDT (CG-93)
organizations and other Headquarters and field organizations.
3. Ms. Stein joins the U.S. Coast Guard's Senior Executive Service
after 20 plus years of acquisition experience with the U.S. Navy.
