SUBJ: CHIEF PETTY OFFICER MCCRODDEN CITED FOR EXCELLENCE
1. Chief Petty Officer Craig E. McCrodden, Chief Avionics Electrical
Technician, Aviation Projects Acquisition Center (APAC), Air Station
Elizabeth City, is the Coast Guard (CG) recipient of the 2023 League
of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Excellence in Public
Service Award.
2. Chief McCrodden engrained himself in the Elizabeth City, North
Carolina community by volunteering with the Serving Others in Unity
and Love (SOULS) organization and serving free meals to local
homeless and low-income residents, supporting between 30 to 45
individuals per night to provide safe-to-consume and nutritious
food. When SOULS experienced volunteer shortages, Chief McCrodden
encouraged others from his unit to participate. These calls to
action resulted in recruiting numerous other Coast Guard volunteers
to support the community throughout the year. Chief McCrodden's
efforts enriched lives and enhanced community relations, greatly
contributing to the improved well-being of Elizabeth City's less
fortunate.
3. The Coast Guard commends Chief McCrodden for his outstanding
contributions, achievements, and exemplary public service. LULAC
will recognize him at the 2023 LULAC National Convention &
Exposition in Albuquerque, NM, from July 31-August 5, 2023.
4. Civil Rights awards help maximize the Coast Guard's overall
