B. COMDT COGARD WASHINGTON DC 060933 APR 18/ACN 125/18
C. Coast Guard Military Medals and Awards Manual,
COMDTINST M1650.25E
1. This ALCOAST is an update to REF (A).
2. In 2018, the Coast Guard, through REF (B), prohibited gender
specific pronouns and names in evaluations reports to facilitate
impartial boards and panels. REF (A) was issued to align the awards
program with REF (B) as the next step in furthering the Service's
efforts to ensure boards and panels remain impartial.
3. Following release of REF (A), feedback from the workforce
indicated that additional clarity and direction is needed regarding
the change. To assist units in implementing this change, and prior
to the 1 October 2023 implementation date, CG-PSC will release
additional guidance and clarification on removing gender indicators
from awards as well as other administrative documents viewed by
boards and panels. This forthcoming guidance will update REF (C).
4. Questions regarding this ALCOAST should be directed to
CG PSC-PSD-mua-ma at: Arl.Awdsman@uscg.mil.
5. Dr. D. M. Navarro, Acting Assistant Commandant for Human
Resources (CG-1), sends.
6. Internet release is authorized.
