AWARD ANNOUNCEMENT

1. This ALCOAST announces MK2 Johnny Johnson from CGC KIMBALL
as the recipient of the 2022 Fireman First Class Paul Clark Boat
Forces Engineer Award. This prestigious annual award recognizes
an exemplary Coast Guard boat engineer who demonstrated
sustained superior performance, proficiency of craft, and
leadership. His technical acumen, expertise, and commitment
distinguish MK2 Johnson as an expert technician, humanitarian,
and innovative leader. His example is a standard to emulate for
boat forces professionals throughout the Service. MK2 Johnson's
qualifications include Boat Engineer for the 35 foot Cutter
Boat Long Range Interceptor (CB-LRI-II) and 26 foot Cutter Boat
Over The Horizon (CG-OTH-IV). MK2 is also a Boarding Team
Member (BTM) and Pursuit Crewman logging over 150 underway hours.
He demonstrated exceptional technical expertise by completing
over 75 hours of preventative maintenance, while simultaneously
identifying and repairing several mission disabling casualties
on all three cutter boats. MK2 Johnson volunteered to supplement
Station Honolulu' boat crews to execute recreational boardings
during a long Memorial Day holiday weekend. During an
interdiction of a Go-Fast Vessel (GFV), the boat crew
discovered a life-threating medical casualty on board the GFV.
He immediately rendered life-saving medical first-aid to the
critically injured person. MK2's quick and decisive actions
along with continuous life-saving care during the transit
to the cutter stabilized the patient until treatment by
medical personnel which saved the life of the mariner.
