A. Military Qualifications and Insignia, COMDTINST M1200.1A
B. Uniform Regulations, COMDTINST M1020.6K
C. Qualifications Required to Earn the Marine Safety Insignia,
COMDTINST 1200.2
D. Prevention Operations Ashore Qualification Insignia,
COMDTINST 1200.2A
1. In accordance with Commandant Direction, the Prevention
Operations Ashore insignia has been approved.
2. The Coast Guard Workforce is our highest priority. Earning
insignia builds esprit-de-corps while visibly representing
professional competence. With the recent approval of the
Response Operations Ashore insignia, Coast Guard members can
display their achieved mastery of programmatic specialties
across the Operations Ashore communities.
3. The Prevention Operations Ashore insignia replaces the Marine
Safety insignia. The actual insignia remains the same and continues
to recognize members who have obtained the skills and experience
to be considered professionals within the Marine Safety field.
However, the Qualifying Competences have changed to reflect current
Operations Ashore workforce roles. Incident Management, National
Strike Force, and Emergency Management qualifications have been
removed from the Prevention Operations Ashore insignia
qualifications and realigned to the Response Operations Ashore
Qualification insignia.
4. REF (C) is cancelled and replaced by REF (D).
5. The Prevention Operations Ashore insignia will be retroactively
awarded to any member who served in the Prevention Operations
Ashore community and meets the requirements outlined in REF (D).
Those currently wearing an approved Marine Safety insignia can
continue to do so. Members who are already pursuing the legacy
Marine Safety insignia may continue to qualify for entitlement
using the previous requirements listed in REF (C) during a
six-month transition period ending 31 October 2023.
6. POC: LCDR Juan Carlos Martinez, Office of Shore Forces (CG-7412),
