Coast Guard Cutter Waesche returns home following counternarcotics patrol; $166M in contraband seized

The Coast Guard Cutter Waesche (WMSL 751) and crew returned to their Alameda homeport, Friday, following a 90-day counternarcotics patrol in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. The 418-foot national security cutter and crew patrolled more than 15,000 nautical miles conducting law enforcement and search-and-rescue operations in international waters off Central America and South America.
Family members reunite with Coast Guard Cutter Waesche (WMSL 751) crewmembers after the cutter returned home to Base Alameda, California, following a 90-day counternarcotics patrol, March 31, 2023. Waesche’s crew interdicted two suspected drug-smuggling vessels while patrolling international waters of the Eastern Pacific Ocean, resulting in the seizure of approximately 881 pounds of cocaine and 9,500 pounds of marijuana.
