IN BOAT MANUAL VOLUME II
A. U.S. Coast Guard Boat Operations and Training (BOAT) Manual,
Volume II, COMDTINST M16114.33D
1. This ALCOAST announces updates to the process to document boat
crew currencies as outlined in REF (A). Due to the increased
obsolescence of TMT to accurately track the initial certification,
re-certification and currency maintenance for boat competencies and
associated tasks, Part 2, Chapter 6, Section A, Paragraph 4 of
REF (A) has been removed.
2. Unit CO/OICs have the option, and shall direct unit TO/TPOs, to
track boat competencies via the alternative process outlined in
para. 5 below or continue to use TMT. This update does not remove
the responsibility of the CO/OIC to accurately track and verify all
boat certifications and currencies.
3. This update is effective immediately and will be reflected in the
next revision of REF (A), which will be promulgated within the year.
4. An alternative process for certification, currency tracking and
maintenance for units not using TMT has been authorized by
COMDT (CG-731) until a permanent tracking system is developed.

6. Training events will be offered by COMDT (CG-7311) to Training
Officers and Training Petty Officers on the alternate currency
tracker to ensure unit success. To register for an upcoming Boat

7. The C5I Service Center will continue to support TMT and respond
to user help tickets. There is no defined date for sunsetting TMT
at this time.
8. This ALCOAST does not change the requirement to track other
qualifications in TMT such as law enforcement competencies,
DSF competencies, etc. For questions re: use of TMT for tracking
other qualifications, contact the respective program offices.
