SUBJ: 2023 FEDERAL ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN COUNCIL UNIFORMED
SERVICES AWARDS
1. Nominations are now open for the 2023 Federal Asian Pacific
American Council (FAPAC) Uniformed Services Awards. FAPAC is a
nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that promotes equal opportunity
and cultural diversity and encourages the participation and
advancement of Asian Pacific Americans in the Federal workforce.
2. FAPAC invites nomination submissions to recognize and honor
active duty and reserve members who distinguished themselves in the
criteria below during the performance period of Fiscal Year 2022
(October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022) or Calendar Year 2022
(January 1 to December 31, 2022):
a. Fostered an innovative and harmonious environment between
Uniforms Services and Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific
Islander communities (AANHPI).
b. Distinguished himself or herself by promoting the tenets of
the U.S. Constitution, civil/human rights, equal opportunity, human
relations, and/or public service.
c. Displayed exceptional character that distinguishes an
individual as an outstanding leader, role model or mentor by
promoting the development or advancement of members of the Uniformed
Services; the nominee assisted in overcoming discrimination and
eliminating barriers that hinder equal opportunity for all members
of the Uniformed Services, including the civilian workforce.
d. Contributed to equal opportunity for selection, promotion, or
retention of women and minorities in ranking positions and under-
represented occupations.
e. Created opportunities that support and contribute to the
mentorship, development, advancement, or retention of all personnel,
including women and minorities, in government service consistent
with merit-based principles; created job or training opportunities
that will support and contribute to the advancement of all members
in the Civilian and Uniformed Services.
3. Units may nominate a member for the Uniform Services Award by
submitting a nomination package to the POC listed in paragraph 6 by
February 7, 2023. All submitted files in the nomination package
should be single-spaced, 12-point font with 1-inch margins in Word
or PDF format. Nomination packages must include the following items:
a. Command cover memo, with signature.
b. Nomination form (available from POC listed in paragraph 6).
c. Citation including major accomplishments of the nominee, not
to exceed 12 lines.
d. Narrative describing the accomplishments warranting
recognition, not to exceed two pages.
e. Biography of the nominee, not to exceed one page.
f. Digital color or black-and-white headshot photo (.jpg or .png
file format).
4. COMDT (CG-00H) will send all nominations to FAPAC, which will
make the final selections and notify individuals and nominating
officials. An ALCOAST will announce the winners.
5. Civil Rights awards help to maximize the Coast Guard's overall
mission effectiveness through recognition of members'
accomplishments and contributions to Civil Rights and Equal
Opportunity and Partnership in Education (PIE) programs.
