STARS AND STRIPES EVENT
1. I am honored to announce and congratulate the recipients of the
2023 Stars and Stripes Award. The winners of the 2023 Stars and
Stripes Awards are:
a. CAPT Zeita Merchant: Sector Commander/Captain of the Port
U.S. Coast Guard Sector New York - 2023 Stars and Stripes United
States Coast Guard Award.
b. Mr. Marcus Akins: Technical Advisor, U.S. Coast Guard Office
of Commercial Vessel Compliance - 2023 Stars and Stripes United
States Federal Agency Leadership Award.
2. The winners will be recognized at the BEYA 2023 STEM Conference,
which will be held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention
Center, National Harbor, Maryland from 09-11 February, 2023.
3. The purpose of the BEYA 2023 STEM Conference is to recognize
outstanding Black/African American achievements in the STEM industry
and the armed forces, including the U.S. Coast Guard. For more event
