1. This message solicits AY23 applicants for one-year PCS ashore and afloat assignments to PATFORSWA.
2. This is a dependent restricted, non-isolated PCS assignment available for men and women. Upon successful
completion of this tour, members will have a choice of being placed at the top of a Class A-School list for
which they are qualified or being assigned to an open billet of their choice. For additional compensation
information, please visit Ref (A).
3. PATFORSWA positions are available at the following units:
a. Afloat: CGC CHARLES MOULTHROPE, CGC CLARENCE SUTPHIN, CGC GLENN HARRIS, CGC JOHN SCHEUERMAN AND CGC ROBERT GOLDMAN
b. Ashore: PATFORSWA Shore Side AT/FP Watch and Support
4. Assignment Criteria:
a. Be a U.S. citizen.
b. Be 18 years of age at deployment date.
c. Be suitable for overseas assignments IAW Ref (B) and (C).
d. Possess a valid driver’s license for the duration of assignment.
e. Be eligible for a Secret clearance or higher.
f. Meet obligated service requirements of 15 months from report date.
g. Meet Coast Guard weight standards IAW Ref (D).
h. Have completed task 1-01, Physical Fitness Standards, of Ref (E) within 6 months of
01 April 2022.
i. Weapons Qualifications: Notwithstanding above, preference in selection will be given
to those who have the following qualifications IAW Ref (F):
1. Afloat: Qualified on the Personal Defense Weapon (DAK P229R) under the
Firearms, Training and Evaluation - Pistol (FT&E-P) course of fire; the
M-4 or M-16 rifle under Basic Rifle Marksmanship (BRMC) or Combat Rifle (CRC) course
of fire; and the M870 12 gauge shotgun under Practical Riot Shotgun course (PRSC) of fire.
2. Ashore: Qualified on the M-4 or M-16 rifle as detailed above.
5. Members selected for assignment and who are currently on an A-School list will be placed on an administrative
hold upon receipt of PCS orders. Members will not be authorized to cancel PCS orders to attend A-School. The
administrative hold will be removed after successful completion of the PATFORSWA tour.
6. All selected for this duty will be required to complete Pre-Deployment Training at Special Missions Training
Center (4-5 weeks).
7. All members will be required to take part in the Water Survival Training Program (WSTP) at Pre-Deployment
Training (PDT). Students will be required to take and pass the CG Boat Crew PT test in order to participate in WSTP.
Upon successful completion of the PT test, students will be required to meet all tasks outlined in the WSTP Manual
per Water Survival Training Program Manual, COMDTINST M16240.4B.
8. Application Procedures:
a. Applications are due NLT 15 Nov 22.
b. Route request through their chain of command.
c. Complete the overseas screening checklists IAW Ref (C).
d. Provide CG-3029 showing proof of weapons qualifications.
e. Receive a command endorsement IAW paragraph 9.
9. Commands shall complete the NR PATFORSWA APPLICATION located at Ref (G). It is crucial you use the submit
button on the bottom of the form to ensure the endorsement is sent via Outlook to the embedded email address.
All endorsements shall address the following in the remarks section:
a. Verify member meets all assignment criteria in paragraph 4(a-h).
b. If member has not completed 4(h), address member's potential to complete within listed timeframe.
c. Identify qualifications obtained listed in 4(i) and are documented IAW 8(d).
10. Selectees will be notified via e-mail NLT 01 Dec 22. Notifications will not be made to those who did not successfully screen.
