SUBJ: SELECTION OF THE DEPUTY ASSISTANT COMMANDANT FOR C4IT AND
DEPUTY CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER
1. I am pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Brian Campo as
the Coast Guard's Deputy Assistant Commandant for Command, Control,
Communications, Computer, and Information Technology (C4IT) and
Deputy Chief Information Officer.
2. This position provides executive level leadership and management
for the Coast Guard's Command and Control, Communications,
Computers, Cyber and Intelligence (C5I) programs, including
communications and electronic systems and Operations and
Information Technology that enable Coast Guard mission execution
and business processes. The Deputy oversees and advocates to
sustain Coast Guard wide C5I capabilities, systems, and non-material
program while routinely coordinating with Department of Homeland
Security (DHS) and the Department of Defense (DoD) senior leaders.
The Deputy is responsible for coordinating and integrating policies,
guidelines, procedures, and activities to ensure effective,
efficient, and economical strategic management of C5I planning,
acquisition, and operations in support of Coast Guard missions
and objectives. The Deputy promotes the use of information
technology and innovative technology solutions to improve the
operations, productivity, efficiency, effectiveness and service
delivery of the Coast Guard.
3. For over 25 years, Mr. Campo diligently worked to deliver
alignment of Information Technology (IT) to mission needs, ensured
operational performance through IT execution and governance, and
led IT programs through acquisition processes and lifecycles in
both the private and public sectors. As an operations focused IT
leader, Mr. Campo leveraged innovative leadership principles
and vision to identify sustainment and improvement initiatives,
collaborated with stakeholders across Department and Agency levels
to achieve common organizational goals and drive operational
efficiency, and aligned organization-wide IT and cybersecurity
services across multiple stakeholder equities, requirements,
and challenges.
4. Mr. Campo joined the ranks of the Senior Executive Service where
he served as the Deputy Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Acting
Chief Technology Officer with DHS. He was responsible for
identifying, developing, and providing strategic IT capability for
DHS. In this capacity, he was responsible for the day-to-day
management of the DHS CTO Directorate (CTOD) including Enterprise
Architecture, Enterprise Network Modernization Program, Strategic
Technology Management, Technical Architecture and Engineering, and
he established the Chief Data Officer. Under his leadership, CTOD
provided DHS with IT, Federal Information Security Modernization Act
and Federal Information Technology Acquisition Reform Act
governance, IT portfolio planning and oversight, enterprise-wide
implementation of IT vision and innovation, strategic policy, and
enterprise architecture alignment; culminating in the development
of the DHS IT Strategic Plan and its alignment with the President's
Management Agenda. He was responsible for fielding several larger
department-wide contracts with values exceeding $1B including the
DHS Enterprise Infrastructure Services Contract and Architecture
Development and Platform Technical Services which significantly
reduced the time to bring capability to missions across DHS.
5. Mr. Campo will become a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Senior
Executive Service on 31 JUL 2022.
