SUBJ: ENLISTED CAREER GUIDES
1. This ALCOAST announces the release and distribution of rating-
specific enlisted career guides.
2. Background. Based on fleet feedback and recommendations from
the RAND Study on Improving the Representation of Women and
Racial/Ethnic Minorities Among U.S. Coast Guard Active-Duty
Members, the Personnel Readiness Task Force (PRTF), in conjunction
with Rating Force Master Chiefs (RFMC) and teams of subject matter
experts from across the fleet, created rating-specific enlisted
career guides. The career guides serve as a blueprint to success
from the apprentice through the master level. They are designed to
provide members a professional foundation and roadmap that
identifies traditional and non-traditional opportunities available
at each paygrade. Not only can members learn about opportunities
to enrich their Coast Guard careers, but the guides can also help
them prepare for life after the military.
3. Action. The career guides will be located on the RFMC portal
page and distributed at each "A" School prior to graduation. The
guides will be released to the fleet in two groupings with the
first release on 15 February and the second release on 15 March.
a. Career guides released on 15 February: AET, AMT, AST, CS, DC,
DV, GM, IT, ME, OS, & YN.
b. Career guides released on 15 March: BM, EM, ET, HS, IS, MK,
