SUBJ: 2021 COAST GUARD-WIDE EDUCATION FAIR (CGWEF) - FOCUS ON
VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
1. This ALCOAST announces the second 2021 Coast Guard Wide
Education Fair; this fair's focus will be on vocational education.
This is a virtual event open to all Coast Guard Active Duty members,
Reserve, dependents, civilian employees, and retirees. Date/Time:
Wednesday, October 13 -1000-1600 EDT.
2. The virtual venue allows participants to explore hundreds of
college degrees, academic certificate programs and vocational
programs (certifications and licenses) in an easy to navigate
environment.
3. Full time Education Services Officers (ESOs) will be available
in the virtual ESO booth to engage with attendees to discuss their
professional and developmental goals. Additionally, the full time
ESO's can answer questions, assist with education benefits, Tuition
Assistance (TA) process, Joint Service Transcripts (JSTs), and other
benefits offered through Defense Activity for Non-Traditional
Education Support (DANTES).
4. Attendees can browse virtual booths and links to learn about the
history, academic/vocational programs, student services, and tuition
costs of a school. Students are encouraged to interact with
representatives from the academic institutions and agencies. Twenty
colleges and organizations will be represented, showcasing a mix of
institutions and opportunities. All of the academic institutions
have a signed DoD Memorandum of Understanding which allows CG
members to utilize tuition assistance, most matching (or close to)
the CG Tuition Assistance (TA) cap of $250 per credit hour.
5. The Coast Guard's Voluntary Credentialing Program's Credentialing
Assistance team will be available to answer questions about
certifications and licenses fully funded by the VCP. Credentialing

information on credentials, certifications, and licenses related
to their military occupations and duties.
6. Along with the VPC Booth, the Military to Mariner (M2M)

will provide information to members pursuing mariner credentialing
with their USCG training and experience.
