1. This ALCOAST solicits enlisted candidates for Coast Guard
advanced education opportunities sponsored by DCMS. The purpose of
these programs is to develop the advanced knowledge and skills
necessary to perform required duties and responsibilities as well
as to provide developmental incentives for personnel with high
ability, dedication, and the capacity for professional growth to
remain in the Coast Guard. Graduates of these advanced education
programs will be placed in positions of significant responsibility
directly impacting Coast Guard missions, systems, and resources.
Members desiring a challenging career with a range of opportunities
in positions of increasing responsibility are encouraged to apply.
2. Students will be selected for studies in the following advanced
education programs as allocated in REF (A):
a. Aviation Technology
b. Culinary Management (Culinary Arts)
c. Cyber Technology
d. Engineering Technology
e. Yeoman Business Administration and Management
3. Advanced education programs are described in detail at the
DCMS-DPR-1 CGPortal site:

The program previously known as Advanced Computer, Engineering, and
Technology (ACET) has now been divided into three separate and
distinct programs known as Aviation Technology, Cyber Technology,
and Engineering Technology respectively for the purposes of
improving allocation of TABS to the needed specialty and for
alignment of follow on tours. Enlisted members are reminded that
the deadline to apply for any of these programs is 31 JUL 2021.
4. Most programs require recent standardized test scores to compete
for selection. Applicants must proactively schedule testing to
ensure that final results are submitted prior to panel convening
dates. These test scores are subsequently used to meet admission
requirements. However, this year, like last year, may pose unique
challenges for members interested in competing for advanced
education opportunities. In order to maximize applicant pools,
members will not be disqualified from selection if standardized
test scores are required but not present in a member's record.
If you have not had an opportunity to complete a standardized
test due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you are still eligible for
competition. Applicants are expected to schedule and complete a
test as soon as possible. If selected, attendance to a school's
program will be contingent upon demonstrating ability to meet
minimum program requirements. This will be managed with your
individual student manager on a case-by-case basis. Test fees
may be reimbursed. Contact your unit ESO for details.
5. Specific application instructions were published in REF (B).
6. POC: Ms. Mary Miller (DCMS-DPR-1), (202) 475-5737,
email: Mary.K.Miller@uscg.mil. The POCs for each program are
provided in the link above and should be contacted regarding
specific program information, including follow-on tours and
career implications.
