AUXILIARIST OF THE MONTH

Flotilla 84 Member Kathleen Goodwin is recognized for her outstanding Public Relations activity. Upon the COVID restrictions being lessened, she immediately went to work promoting “Safe Boating Week’ (SBW) and “Wear It” campaigns throughout her local communities.
She provided the artwork and arranged for a local car dealer to display the “Wear It” PFD Campaign on an electronic billboard on busy Highway 95 in Coeur d’ Alene, ID. She also obtained a SBW Proclamation from the Mayor of the City of Coeur d’ Alene, while simultaneously providing and arranging for the local “Nickels Worth” to publish a SBW article. She then arranged for two local “Super 1” Supermarkets (Hayden and Coeur d Alene, ID) to distribute over “1000 SBW / Wear It” Flyers that were stuffed into bags along with the items purchased by their customers during SBW.
She and another Auxiliarist rode the local Coeur d’ Alene “City Link” bus, wearing their life jackets for several hours on “Wear Your Life Jackets to Work Day”, spreading the safe boating word to the many passengers. She participated in a joint “Access to Outdoors” event at the Silver Lake Mall in Coeur d ‘Alene, along with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department Marine Patrol Deputies to promote SBW.
Kathy is active in many community organizations and obtained a photo, which was published locally, of the entire “Coeur d’ Alene Triathlon Organizing Committee, including Kathy, wearing life jackets during SBW. Kathy also participated with the US Submarine Vet’s during a Memorial Day wreath laying at Honeysuckle Bay in Hayden, ID.
Kathy holds the following certifications: MDV, VE, AUXOP, FPRINTTECH, BCCOX, AV, TCTAUX, AUXCT and IT, she also holds the following offices: IPDCO, SO-OP, SO-PA, FSO – PA, FSO HR, FSO OP and FSO MA. Kathy Goodwin is a very valuable member of Team Coast Guard.
