SUBJ:  2021 LATINA STYLE DISTINGUISHED MILITARY SERVICE AWARD
1. This ALCOAST solicits nominations for the 2021 LATINA Style
Distinguished Military Service Award, which honors women who
have enhanced the role of Latinas in the Coast Guard. The
award’s period of performance is August 2020 to July 2021.
2. The LATINA Style Distinguished Military Service Award is
open to Coast Guard members (active duty or reserve) and
civilian employees.    
3. Service members (active duty or reserve) will be evaluated
according to the following criteria:
   a. Distinguished themselves as leaders, mentors, and advocates
of diversity and the full integration of Latina women in the
Armed Forces.
   b. Embodied the qualities that are at the core of the Coast
Guard's missions.
   c. Are respected by superiors and peers as military and
community leaders.
   d. Represented the Hispanic community with dignity and pride.
4. Civilian employees will be evaluated according to the following
criteria:
   a. Embodied the qualities that are at the core of the Coast
Guard’s missions.
   b. Aided in creating opportunities and careers that support
and contribute to the advancement of Hispanic Americans toward
senior level positions.
   c. Displayed exceptional character and represented the Hispanic
community with dignity and pride.
5. Nomination packages must include the following:
   a. A narrative describing the accomplishments warranting
recognition, not to exceed two pages.
   b. A citation highlighting the nominee's accomplishments,
not to exceed 12 lines.
   c. A one-page biography of the nominee (a resume will not
suffice).
   d. A digital (.jpg format) head and shoulder color photograph
of the nominee.
   e. Command cover memo, with signature, forwarding the package.
   f. Award Nomination Transmittal form. For a copy of this form,
please contact the Point of Contact (POC) below.
   g. Items a. through c. must be in MS Word, 12-point font,
single-spaced with one-inch margins. These documents may not be
scanned or in .pdf format. Please do not include Personally
Identifiable Information (PII).
6. Nominations must be forwarded as email attachments to the POC
no later than 21 July 2021. COMDT (CG-00H) will forward all the
nominations to the Latina Style organization for consideration
and final selection. The command of the award recipient will be
notified by email prior to announcement of the results to the
workforce. Award winners will be recognized during the Virtual
Latina Style Symposium Distinguished Military Service Award
Program, at the 18th Annual National LATINA Symposium on
September 23rd, 2021.
