HIGH WATER SAFETY ADVISORY:

MORGAN CITY-PORT ALLEN ALTERNATE ROUTE

 

As a result of the Bayou Sorrel river gauge reading 6.5 feet and falling, the COTP New Orleans has implemented an advisory with the following restrictions in accordance with the Waterway Action Plan Baton Rouge Annex:

 

Bayou Sorrel Lock area:

All mariners are advised to transit the area at slowest safe speed to minimize wake from MM 37.6 to MM 45. Vessels are advised to use caution when meeting or overtaking in the area. These restrictions will be in effect as long as the Bayou Sorrel Lock landside gauge reading is above 5.5 feet.

This Marine Safety Information Bulletin supersedes Volume XXI, Issue 039 Bayou Sorrel High Water Advisory 6.9 Feet and Falling, dated June 11, 2021.
