SUBJ:  246TH BIRTHDAY OF THE UNITED STATES ARMY
1. On behalf of the United States Coast Guard, congratulations
to the Army on 246 years of honorable service to our Nation.
2. On Colonial town greens in 1775, you fought to support the
audacious belief of a society based on a set of inalienable rights
and representative self-governance. You have since remained
vigilant - from Yorktown, to Gettysburg, to the Bulge - as
guardians of freedom and the American way of life. Amidst a national
security posture premised on strategic competition in a dynamic
global landscape, the importance of the United States Army as a
bulwark against tyranny, and a beacon to allies and partners,
continues to be a critical component of national power.
3. It is an honor to serve alongside a group of volunteer citizen
soldiers who have sacrificed so much for so many. The Coast Guard
salutes the United States Army and wishes you a Happy Birthday.
