Coast Guard’s sustainable housing project

JONESPORT, Maine­—The Coast Guard’s sustainable housing project for the crews of the remote Coast Guard Station Jonesport and the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Moray (WPB 87331) is completed ahead of schedule.

Since beginning in 2017, the project constructed 12 housing units (5 Duplexes & 2 Handicap Accessible Units), maintenance building, and associated roads, utilities, and site-work. Landscaping will be utilized to create an unobtrusive boundary to the housing community. The project will provide sustainable, modern, and efficient housing for the crews and their families.

What: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for new housing.
When: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 08, 2021
Where: 353 Mill River Road

The road will be renamed to ‘MK3 Carlos Tapia Road’ in memorial of a member who was stationed at Coast Guard Station Jonesport. Machinery Technician 3rd Class Carlos Tapia was killed in a car accident, along with his wife, Rachelle, and their 4-year-old daughter, Mackenzie, September 2010.

The Commandant Admiral Karl Schultz along with Rear Admiral Thomas Allan will be in attendance for the ceremony.
