Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, Port Allen – Morgan City Alternate Route Mile Marker (MM) 47: Grosse Tete Bridge Under Repairs

 

Mariners are advised that the Grosse Tete HWY 77 bridge, located at MM 47 of the Port Allen – Morgan City Alternate Route, is undergoing repairs until May 15, 2021. Effective immediately, the Grosse Tete Bridge is back in operation under power. As a result, the bridge is available for opening to marine traffic on demand.

 

As a result of continued high water in the Bayou Sorrel area, the following safety advisories remain in effect (see MSIB Vol XXI Issue 025 for details):

-One way traffic is required for all vessels from MM 37.6 to MM 45.

-All mariners are advised to transit the area at minimum safe speed with no discernible wake. 

-Lower Grand River Waterway (landside route by Bayou Sorrel) is closed to all commercial traffic.
