united states coast guard

All mariners are advised that as a result of the Bayou Sorrel River gauge reading 6.9 feet and falling, the Bayou Sorrel and Port Allen Locks are open to navigation.

The COTP New Orleans has also implemented an advisory with the following restrictions in accordance with the Waterways Action Plan Baton Rouge Annex:

Bayou Sorrel Lock area:

-One way traffic is required for all vessels from MM 37.6 to MM 45.

-All mariners are advised to transit the area at minimum safe speed with no discernible wake.

-Lower Grand River Waterway (landside route by Bayou Sorrel) is closed to all commercial traffic.

These restrictions will be in effect as long as the Bayou Sorrel Lock landside gauge reading is above 6.5 feet. This MSIB supersedes MSIB Vol. XXI Issue 022, Morgan City-Port Allen Alternate Route.
