SUBJ:  SILVER ANCIENT TRIDENT AWARD ANNOUNCEMENT
1. On behalf of the Commandant, I am pleased to
announce that MSTCM Ann Logan, the Gold Badge at
Coast Guard Operational Logistics Norfolk, Virginia
will relieve MSTCM R. Shane Hooker as the Silver Ancient
Trident. This prestigious award is presented to a Coast
Guard member on Active Duty in recognition of their
longevity and outstanding performance in the Coast Guard
Marine Safety Field.
2. The Ancient Trident Award, honors distinguished
service in the Marine Safety field. This award recognizes
Marine Safety longevity, and extols the member whose personal
character and performance standards honor the most venerable
practitioners of Marine Safety and support the Commandant's
commitment to excellence. The Ancient Trident Award also
honors the heritage and progression of Marine Safety from
the Steamboat Inspection Service, to the Bureau of Marine
Inspection and Navigation and finally to the Coast Guard.
The term "Trident" represents the three-pronged approach
to our mission: Prevention, Preparedness, and Response.
3. MSTCM Hooker will be retiring after a distinguished
career that included more than 20 years of service at
Marine Safety units. He has held the title of Ancient
Trident since June 2016.
4. MSTCM Logan has distinguished herself over the last 27
years in the Coast Guard, serving at Marine Safety units for
over 17 cumulative years.
5. MSTCM Logan will assume her duties as the Ancient Trident
during a change of watch ceremony on 29 April 2021 at
Coast Guard Headquarters.
6. The Office of Shore Forces and I extend MSTCM Hooker a
heartfelt thank you for superbly upholding the Marine Safety
legacy. His passionate efforts have increased the safety and
effectiveness of the Shore Forces community and we bid a fond
farewell. We congratulate and welcome MSTCM Logan and look
forward to her tenure as the Ancient Trident.
