SUBJ:  OMBUDSMAN APPRECIATION DAY
1. On 26 March 2021, we mark the 35th anniversary of the
Coast Guard Ombudsman Program. It is a day set aside for
Coast Guard personnel and families to honor Coast Guard
ombudsmen for the dedicated service they provide to our
mission-ready total workforce. Commands are encouraged
to host appropriate functions that express gratitude and
appreciation for the service ombudsmen provide to Coast Guard
personnel and their families. To learn more about the
Ombudsman Program and how you can support your ombudsman

2. Since Admiral Gracey established the Ombudsman Program,
the outstanding volunteers who have stepped up and have
served in this important role have left a lasting positive
impact that resonates across the Coast Guard every day.
The Ombudsman Program has grown to be one of the strongest
components of the Coast Guard family support network. Our
ombudsmen serve with a genuine desire to help and represent
the very best of the Program's tremendous legacy.
3. The performance of our Coast Guardsmen and the mission
readiness of our commands is a testament to the great success
of the command ombudsman. I encourage everyone to take Ombudsman
Appreciation Day as an opportunity to express their gratitude.
Therefore, to the ombudsmen, we honor you. We celebrate you
for all you do; for your time, for your support, and for your
never-ending dedication to the Coast Guard family.
