1. PSC-epm-2 is soliciting members from the ME rate for a
three year tour with the Costa Rica Coast Guard (CRCG) Academy to
help their staff develop specialized basic and advanced courses for
boarding teams. This billet builds on an initiative launched in FY18
to assist the CRCG with the maintenance and sustainment of 110' platforms.
Ideal candidates for these assignments will possess experience as an
instructor or curriculum developer, have a strong rating specialty
background, and speak Spanish.
2. MECS/MEC: Maritime Law Enforcement (MLE) Specialist and Training
advisor for CRCG Marine Interdiction Unit (MIU). Courses developed will
support the training, qualification and proficiency of CRCG personnel
engaged in the performance of Counter Drug (CD) and marine interdiction
operations. Advisors will play a key role in establishing requirements,
standards, and implementation of curriculums to enhance the MIU's
effectiveness during engagements with USCG and JIATF-South.
3. To be considered for selection, interested members must obtain a command
endorsement that addresses member's eligibility as follows:
   a. Open to all AYs.
   b. Must be an E6 (above the cut for E7), E7 or E8.
   c. Suitable for overseas assignment IAW Ref A, 1.H.3.n, and Ref D.
   d. A U.S. Citizen.
   e. Possess a Secret Clearance.
   f. Spanish Interpreter (Certified via DLPTV) IAW Ref E 9.b.3.
   g. Meet OBLISERV OCONUS requirements IAW Ref A 1.B.6.c.
   h. Meet Coast Guard weight standards.
   i. Command endorsement for instructor/advisor
   position IAW Ref A, CH 1.E.6.
   j. Member that has completed a full tour at a TACLET and has
   earned a Tactical Operator (TO) certification within that tour.  
   k. Meet the demands of an embedded assignment with a foreign military and
   represent the USCG with distinction. Essential qualities: adaptability,
   professionalism, initiative, and maturity.
4. Members selected for this position can expect to report OOA 1 JUL 2021.
Members selected for this assignment will be required to obligate three
years of service. There are no gender restrictions and this can be an
accompanied or unaccompanied assignment. Following the successful completion
of this tour, members will receive Assignment Priority 2. For questions

5. Interested candidates shall send an email with the subject "APPLICATION
FOR COSTA RICA COAST GUARD ACADEMY INSTRUCTOR" to their CO/OIC for endorsement.
The email shall request consideration for the instructor position and state they
meet all criteria listed in paragraph 4. The email with all required endorsements
shall be sent from the CO/OIC to the appropriate AO listed below.
