SUBJ:  SOLICITATION FOR THE 2020 FORREST O. REDNOUR MEMORIAL AWARD PROGRAM
A. Forrest O. Rednour Memorial Award Program for Excellence in Food Service
and Food Service Specialist of the Year, COMDTINST 4061.7 (series)
1. This ACN solicits nominations for the 2020 Rednour Award Program. The Rednour
Award Program honors six categories of Coast Guard Dining Facilities (CGDF):
large, medium, and small CGDF ashore and large, medium, and small CGDF afloat
as defined in REF (A). The program also honors one Culinary Specialist (CS)
of the Year. These awards are presented annually and are designed to recognize
those units and CSs who consistently epitomize the best in culinary service
professionalism.
2. In addition to the requirements contained in REF (A), this ACN introduces
the following requirements:
    a. For CS of the Year, the nominee must be assigned to the present unit for
a minimum of six months as of 01 January 2021.
    b. The records submission requirement is reduced to the most current 6 months
of examined CGDF reports.
    c. Enclosures (2 & 3) in REF (A) state that unit submissions will be in a
six-part folder. For this nomination cycle, all documents required in the
submission package shall be sent electronically toHQS-SMB-CULINARYPROGRAM@USCG.MIL
and CSC Eric Toler at eric.r.toler@uscg.mil. Packages must be saved as zip files
and not encrypted. More than one zip file may be sent to complete the submission
process. Multiple zip files will be numbered to indicate when all files have been
sent (e.g. 1 of 3, 2 of 3, and 3 of 3). The body of the email must indicate the
category, unit’s name, mailing address, and CS personnel assigned at the time of
submission. Personnel must be listed in order of pay grade. All submissions must
have the file description as follows: "REDNOUR SUBMISSION 2020 SIZE, CATEGORY, UNIT NAME"
or "CS of the Year 2020 PAYGRADE, MEMBER NAME, UNIT NAME." Each package must include
all photos in one PowerPoint document and all other supporting documents as defined
in REF (A) and this ACN.
3. In addition to the requirements contained in REF (A), this ACN introduces the
following recommended inclusions:  
    a. Photos. Photos are not limited for this year's submission package for the
Forrest O. Rednour Award and CS of the Year. Photos of the complete galley staff,
culinary artistry, customer service interaction, special events, holiday meals,
and receptions are highly recommended. Photos shall be professional and relevant
to the CS rating. All photos shall be compiled and submitted as a slideshow using
Microsoft PowerPoint.
    b. All units submitting a Rednour Award nomination for their CGDF are highly
encouraged to also submit a CS of the Year nomination for an individual who played
a key role in the success of the unit’s dining facility. Please ensure that the
nomination for the dining facility and CS of the Year (if submitted) are separate
submissions. A Command Endorsement is required for each package submitted.
4. The deadline for package submission is 29 January 2021. Please note that all
units with a CS-staffed CGDF are eligible to submit a package.
5. Late or incomplete packages will not be reviewed.
6. COMDT (CG-1111) will convene a board in February 2021 and announce the winners
via ALCOAST in March 2021.
7. These changes will be incorporated in the next revision of REF (A), which will
be released within the next year.
