1.  References A and B detail the administration of the November 2020 SWE.  This update reiterates the
SWE substitute exam policy promulgated in reference C, which can be used to allow members impacted by COVID-19
to compete in the November 2020 SWE competition.
2.  COVID-19 continues to impact our workforce.  Members exposed to, suffering the symptoms of, or testing
positive for COVID-19 require isolation, quarantine or hospitalization to regain their health and preserve
the health of others. The substitute exam policy in reference C, chapter 3.B.2., can be used to ensure
members impacted by COVID-19 can still compete in the November 2020 SWE. Commanding Officers (CO) are
strongly encouraged to become familiar with this policy and make preparations, as necessary, to allow
all eligible members to compete in the November 2020 SWE.
3.  In addition, COs shall review and adhere to the instructions listed in Reference D, the SWE Officer
Handbook. The SWE Officer Handbook is available at
https://cg.portal.uscg.mil/units/ppc/Shared%20Documents/ADV/sweBooklet.pdf.
4.  PPC (ADV) is the single POC for SWE inquiries. They can be reached by e-mail at PPC-
DGCustomerCare@uscg.mil. For additional SWE information go to the PPC (ADV) home page
at https://cg.portal.uscg.mil/units/ppc/SitePages/Advancements%20and%20Evaluations%20Branch.
