MEDIA ADVISORY: Coast Guard Cutter Escanaba crew to return home to Boston after 65 day patrol

Credentialed media interested in attending the cutter’s arrival must RSVP with the First Coast Guard District Public Affairs staff at 617-717-9609, by 4 p.m. Monday. In accordance with CDC guidelines, social distancing will be in effect, and face coverings must be worn. News media are requested to arrive by 9:00 a.m.

BOSTON— The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Escanaba (WMEC 907), is scheduled to return home to Boston, Wednesday, following a 65-day patrol in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.

During their patrol, the 100-person crew interdicted five vessels, detained 15 suspected narcotics traffickers attempting to smuggle more than 1,700 pounds of cocaine, almost 500 gallons of liquid cocaine and approximately 6,500 pounds of marijuana with a total estimated street value of more than $58 million.
