Safety Advisory - Plaquemine Bend Stone Laying Operations 
MM 207.5-209.5 RDB AHP LMR

The Captain of the Port New Orleans is issuing a Safety Advisory for the waters of the Lower Mississippi River from Mile Marker (MM) 207.5 Above Head of Passes (AHP) to MM 209.5 AHP. This advisory is needed to protect persons and vessels from the potential safety hazards associated with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) stone-laying operations occurring along the right descending bank (RDB) near MM 208.5 (Plaquemine Bend).

The stone-laying operations announced in MSIB Vol XX Issue 108 will be extended to continue daily from 7:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. local time until approximately Friday, November 6, 2020, including weekends. During stone laying, towing vessel CROSBY RAMBLER and its barge will extend 150-300' channel-ward from the bank.  

One-way traffic will be required from MM 207.5 to MM 209.5 during stone laying operations. Passing arrangements shall be made with M/V CROSBY RAMBLER on channel 78.

Updates and/or changes will be disseminated via VTS email distribution and/or via Safety Broadcast Notice to Mariners.

This MSIB is supplemental to MSIB Vol XX Issue 108, dated September 22, 2020.
