Media Advisory: Coast Guard, state, local first responders to conduct boat drills on Tennessee River in Alabama

WHAT: The Coast Guard, state and local first responders will conduct marine firefighting drills with a hopper barge operated by Parker Towing on the Tennessee River.
PARTICIPANTS: U.S. Coast Guard, Parker Towing, Morgan County Rescue Squad, Decatur Fire Department, Guntersville Fire Department, Florence Fire Department, Muscle Shoals Fire Department, Killen Fire Department, Morgan County EMA, Decatur Morgan Hospital, Calhoun Community College, Alabama Marine Police, Decatur PD, Decatur First Response EMS, Decatur AIR EVAC
WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020 from 9 a.m. through 10:30 a.m.
WHERE: Marine firefighting drills in the morning are on the Tennessee River mile marker 305 to the west of the Route 31 (Captain William J Hudson Memorial) bridge. Drills will also be conducted at the Decatur Harbor Marina adjacent to this bridge.
NEW ORLEANS — In an effort to maintain maritime incident readiness, Coast Guard, local, county and state agencies will conduct marine firefighting drills on the Tennessee River in Decatur, Alabama Thursday.
The purpose of these drills is to enhance maritime incident response for both fire and rescue agency personnel who may respond to a maritime incident occurring along the Tennessee River region.
The drills include a wide-range of boat tactics and emergency response procedures. Drills will include multiple agency responder boats displaying flashing lights operating near a hopper barge moored on the Tennessee River at mile marker 305 to the west of the Route 31 (Captain William J Hudson Memorial) bridge near the Decatur Harbor Marina.
Media planning to attend must arrive no later than 8 a.m. Thursday and must follow proper CDC guidelines.
