SUBJ: COVID-19: TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF ADVANCEMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR LEADERSHIP COURSES

1. This ALCOAST announces an update to REF (A) and (B).
2. REF (A) is updated to temporarily suspend paragraph 10.a. which requires all newly
commissioned CWOs to attend and complete the CWOPD course within the first 18 months
of commission.
3. Due to the impacts of COVID-19, many FY20 CWOPD sessions were cancelled. Future
CWOPD sessions are on hold through 1 April 2021. These cancellations created a
significant backlog and prevent CWOs from meeting the 18 month requirement to attend.
4. REF (B) is updated to temporarily suspend paragraph 6.a.(2)(c) which requires all
E-6 members to attend the CPOACAD prior to advancement to E-7.
5. CPOACAD sessions have resumed with a reduced student capacity. With a significant
backlog, automatic slating of E-6s above the current Service Wide Exam cut is suspended.
The target audience until full student capacity can be achieved are E-7s who are otherwise
eligible to test for E-8. Members must attend CPOACAD before advancing to E-8.
