SVN76 (PRN23) LAUNCH JDAY 182
The U.S. Air Force has released a LAUNCH NANU indicating that SVN-76, the third of the new GPS III satellites, has been turned over to the Second Space Operations Squadron to begin preparing for operations in the active GPS constellation. It should be noted that SVN-76 was launched at 4:10 p.m. EDT, June 30 (JDAY 182) from Space Launch Complex - 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. The Lockheed Martin-built satellite was carried to orbit aboard a Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX) Falcon 9 Launch Vehicle. A NANU to indicate initial use (USABINIT) will be published when the satellite is set healthy to begin active service as a part of the GPS constellation.
Constellation changes: SVN-76 (PRN-23) will take up position in Plane/Slot E4. SVN-51 (PRN-20) currently occupying E4, will be re-phased to an as yet undetermined location to best provide for better global coverage. SVN-41 (PRN-14), after almost 20 years of active service, has been decommissioned.
